Abstract

AbstractA method for improving broadband phase performance of common‐source/common‐gate (CS/CG) active balun is presented. By setting different terminal impedances and DC bias, the phase error of the balun can be controlled within 7° from 1 to 20 GHz in simulation. A fabricated 2–40 GHz balanced MMIC doubler using the designed active balun has the fundamental frequency suppression (FFS) of more than 16 dB. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
