Abstract

MOST of the connective tissue polysaccharides which have been isolated in the native state as their protein complexes have come from cartilage tissues1,2. On the basis of past experience, attempts have been made to use an isolation method that preserves the mucoproteins as far as possible unaltered and effects only mechanical breakdown of the tissue structure, while allowing the macromolecules to be isolated from the extracts.
