Abstract

The wake fraction is assumed to be analyzed into the potential part, which is the functionof Froude's number, and the non-potential part, which is the function of frictional coefficient.Expressing the thickness of frictional wake by the term of frictional coefficient, we cancalculate the non-potential part, namely the scale effect, of the wake fraction. Thus we founda method for estimating the wake fraction of the actual ship from the data of model experiments, and at the same time, for computing the effective influences of various factors uponthe wake fraction.
