Abstract
A new approximate method for determining the stress state of plates with a curved hole is proposed. The method approximates the hole boundary by elliptical arcs using conform mappings and generalized least-square method. The high accuracy of the numerical results is established. Numerical results for a plate with a square hole are analyzed
