Abstract
An estimation of the extent of fiber-fiber bonding in polymer-treated wool fabrics is achieved by sectioning yarns after they have been carefully unroved. To avoid contamination from mounting aids, the yarns were placed between two rectangular pieces of polyethylene in the microtome. The number of fiber snippets that remain as clusters are counted with the assumption that a fiber-fiber bond will result in two or more fibers per group. It is shown that the technique can be used to distinguish between the amounts of polymer applied.
