Abstract

A simple criterion for evaluating dissipative effects in superconductive tunneling devices is presented, and is established on the basis of a shortening of the semiclassical traversal time of the barrier. As an example of application of the above criterion, we examine the results obtained from measurements of decay-rate out of the metastable superconducting state of a Josephson junction.
