Abstract
Abstract A historical description of the development of remedial reading techniques is the central topic. After review of the major remedial techniques, a classification scheme is presented. Evidence for the limited number of specific remedial techniques is offered as an impetus for a fuller understanding of the variety of remedial techniques and their role in instructional programs.
