Abstract

In this paper, a type of polarization-insensitive metasurface to improve the independent sample number of reverberation chamber is proposed. The metasurface has high reflection amplitude (almost equal to 1) and wide phase range (ranges from +148° to -327°). By applying the metasurface, the reflection phases of symmetric metal walls are changed as well as the boundary condition of the reverberation chamber. The independent sample number is used to describe the measurement uncertainty of the reverberation chamber. A comparison of independent sample number amongst four reverberation chambers with different metasurfaces is carried out. It is found that reverberation chamber with metasurface that has the largest phase difference over frequency-band shows the best performance in terms of measurement uncertainty.
