Abstract

A description is given of a reversible flow meter designed to work as part of a soil moisture flow gauge. The flow is measured by forming drops of water in a less dense nonmiscible liquid and electrically recording the drops. The operating characteristics are discussed and an empirical equation giving the effect of temperature and flow rate on drop size is derived.
