Abstract

A new mathematical procedure is proposed to solve the dynamic hysteresis model of laminated steel considering the static hysteresis, eddy current field and excess field. The Preisach model with an analytic weight function is used for modelling static hysteresis. The eddy current field and the static hysteresis are coupled by the 1-D penetration equation and the well-known Bertotti empirical equation is used to model the excess field effect. In order to avoid inverting the Preisach model, the dynamic model is solved for unknown field strength using a mesh free approach. In this approach, the eddy current magnetic field strength over the lamination thickness is approximated by a Fourier series. The coefficients of the Fourier series are obtained by solving a system of nonlinear equations using Newton-Raphson.
