Abstract

Structural topology optimization has been studied and widely used for design of many kinds of objects and buildings. In this paper, a mesh generation method for structural topology optimization based on genetic algorithms (GAs) has been developed successfully. Point set is parameterized as the individual of GAs, and used as input variables of a specific designed fitness function. Special GAs operators of mutation and crossover for point set with a regularization step are created. The proposed method is evaluated on several structure topology optimization problems and compared with classical methods. It is proved that the proposed algorithm can give much better results.
