Abstract

A memory-level decision logic used at the CERN-ISR Split Field Magnet Detector is described. 50000 wires of the multi-wire proportional chamber detector are grouped into 32-wire memory OR levels, corresponding to 64 mm space resolution. From their pattern, the topology of specific events is defined. The rejection power for wrong events is of the order of 10 2 to 10 3. The decision time is about 1 μs.
