Prompt publication of clinical trial results in peer-reviewed journals is essential to advance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. In this guide, first I share my perspective on how PMWs contribute to such projects and the essential skills and competencies we should provide. Then, I describe my tactical approaches to initiating these projects, developing the first draft of a detailed outline or manuscript, and avoiding some common pitfalls that can undermine the quality of a manuscript. Finally, I share some tips for working with challenging personalities.
