Abstract

DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), as the most popular scheme in achieving devices interoperation in home network, is designed to implement the seamless sharing of media resources among devices. UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) protocol and UPnP A / V architecture, known as the core of the DLNA, are also the basis of this paper. At first, this paper implements the classical DLNA framework by designing the three basic logic devices on Android platform, which are digital media server, digital media render and digital media controller respectively, and the interoperability among these three basic entities. In addition, this paper has come up with and completed an online video searching module by utilizing the Youku APIs: searching for videos according to the keywords, parsing JSON data to fetch video “metadata” and source address, and then pushing the resources to DMR to playback. Combining the DLNA with online videos searching is not only an extension in functionality, but also an impressive innovation in technology, which has great market potential.
