Abstract

Coating studies and other mechanical methods to estimate DoA necessitate sophisticated equipment, skilled workforce, and huge amount of RAP material for testing. Hence, the present study proposes a simple mechanistic-empirical approach to estimate DoA with reasonable accuracy without requiring experiments on RAP material. Coating studies were carried out on several experimental combinations with varying mixing parameters and RAP characteristics. It was found that the liquid bridge theory along with a shift factor function can successfully be used to estimate DoA. A regression model with an adjusted coefficient of determination (R2-adj) of 0.70 was developed to establish the shift factor function.
