Abstract

A mechanical beam chopper system combined with a Ge(Li) γ-ray detector has been developed which enables to measure half-lives of isometric states in the range from 1 to 900 ms. Values of (8.39±0.11) ms for the half-life of the 2.757 MeV isometric state in 132Xe, (5.25±0.24) ms for the 95.2 keV state in 171Yb and (6.19±0.08) ms for the 382 keV state in 90Nb were obtained.
