Abstract

AbstractIt is very important to quantitatively describe the disorder motion in traffic flow to study transition process between disorder motion and order motion. A definition of the disorder motion in traffic flow was given in order to quantitatively describe the disorder motion in traffic flow through analyzing the concept of order motion and disorder motion. A measuring model of disorder motion in traffic flow was put forward based on traffic entropy. The model was applied to analyze the disorder motion in traffic flow and the thresholds of 9 actual traffic flows were calculated. Based on the thresholds of the calculated results, the traffic flow is in the disorder motion in traffic flow when the threshold N is 1.10, the speed of the vehicle is less than 30% of the design speed of the vehicle. The model successfully solves the measure problem of the disorder motion in traffic flow and provides theoretical foundation to study transition process between disorder motion and order motion.
