Abstract

The surface self-diffusion of tantalum is studied using the field emitter tip radius increase technique. The temperature difference between tip basis and tip end is considered. The diffusion coefficients are measured in the temperature range from 1600 to 2400 K: D s = 22 exp ( −63.8 kT ) cm 2 s −1 .
