Abstract
Abstract The Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies 1 contains five plates, with 99 lithographic pictures based on photographs and drawings. These pictures, published in 1895, illustrate various fortifications, bridges, structures, and topographic scenes from the American Civil War, 1861-1865. Two of them are of particular interest to the photographic historian: Plate 74, No. 3 (Figure 1) which shows a group of photographers and their stereo camera on the point of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, and Plate 78, No. 11 (Figure 2) which depicts a darkroom tent and photographer accompanying the Union army south-east of Atlanta, Georgia.
