Abstract

The manuscript presents a study on 2D groundwater flow through porous and fractured media employing Analytic Element Method. The approximate solution based on a series expansion is presented for the problem with multiple fractures. Influence of each fracture can be expressed in a series satisfying Laplace’s equation perfectly. The unknown coefficients in series expansion are determined by using the discharge potentials of all the elements linked to them. Dimension, location and conductivities were randomly selected for the inhomogeneities. Furthermore, a matrix method as a direct solver for AEM, obtained by implementing the intern boundary conditions as well as convergence analysis of iterative method of Gauss–Seidel type are also discussed.
