Abstract

A mathematical model for shading calculations is developed. Closed form expressions for shadow position of an isolated point on a plane surface with arbitrary orientation are derived. By parallel projection methods these expressions can be applied for shadow calculations of relatively complex objects. Furthermore, for some particular plane surface orientations the shadow cast is presented by the shading diagrams. The use of such diagrams for analysis is also discussed on few illustrative examples.
