Abstract

Objectives: Minimally invasive mitral valve surgery (MIMVS) is an increasingly used approach for mitral valve repair and replacement. Further reduction in surgical trauma can be achieved by non-rib-spreading fully endoscopic access, thereby maintaining the same quality of surgery. We compared patients who underwent MIMVS either through a non-rib-spreading or rib-spreading access in a retrospective matched-pair analysis regarding perioperative and early postoperative outcomes, and in a follow up of 1 year.
