Abstract
A mass spectrometer has been built which allows measurements to be made on the neutral species formed during electron impact dissociation of positive ions. The instrument has been shown to be effective not only in the measurement of the abundances of these species but also in the measurement of excited states of neutrals. In addition the present design is suitable for the measurement of the kinetic energy of positive ion species.
