Abstract

Abstract The paper describes the structure of an interactive manual data input programming system which was developed for drilling and which uses a ‘shop floor oriented’ language. This programming system incorporates ‘cutting technology’, to provide an unskilled machine operator with computer assistance in achieving optimum drilling conditions for a wide range of engineering materials, and has been designed to be used in conjunction with a microprocessor-based NC drilling system, the structure of which is also briefly described.
