Abstract

Affiliated with the theoretical-methodological perspectives of discourse analysis ini-tiated by Pêcheux (1997, 2002) in France, and Orlandi (1999, 2001, 2016) in Brazil, this paper aims to reflect on the effects of meaning attributed to the expression “guilty” conveyed in a piece of news by The Intercept Brasil newspaper. Therefore, we analyze to what extent the relationship between discursive memory and the event shown by the mentioned headline can bring to light a discursive event. The corpus consists of clippings of posts made on the social platform Instagram shortly after the publication of the mentioned headline. Finally, we hope that such reflections can contribute to the understanding of how discursively the meanings of statements work in relation to subjects and memory.
