Abstract

Nowadays, the Distribution System Operators (DSOs) are seeking to increase the visibility of the Low Voltage (LV) grid status for quality of service monitoring, for management optimization and also for fault prevention, detection and location. The growing introduction of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into the LV grid is making this need even more urgent. This article presents a solution for acquiring relevant data from selected points in the LV grid and for efficiently transmitting that data to intelligent controllers through a Wireless Sensor Network. Also, the control of voltage in the LV grid, by means of a special purpose algorithm, is discussed.
