Abstract

This paper presents an 8⨯8 magneto-electric (ME)dipole high-efficiency waveguide slot array antenna based on ridge gap waveguide (RGW)feed network operating in V -band. The proposed 8⨯8 array antenna has three layers: ME dipole layer, backed cavity layer, and feed distribution network layer. A transition from standard V-band waveguide port to RGW transmission line is designed. Final dimensions including ME dipole patch, radiating slot, backed cavity layer, RGW feed network are designed and optimized in simulation software. Simulations of the whole 8⨯8 array antenna demonstrate that the reflection coefficient bandwidth (∣S11∣<-10dB)is 15% from 56.5GHz to 65.5GHz, meanwhile, antenna efficiency is above 90% in the whole frequency band with maximum gain 27dB.
