Abstract
The photocatalytic performance of CdS-PbS immobilized on a magnetized natural clinoptilolite (MCNP) surface was evaluated for cefotaxime (CT) degrading. The synthesized photocatalyst was characterized by FT-IR, VSM, XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, SEM-EDX, photo luminance analysis (PL), and UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) techniques. pHpzc of the catalyst was also estimated at 7.4. The effects of different experimental variables of pH, catalyst dose, CT concentration, and hybrid CdS-PbS loading were investigated to optimize the photodegradation performance. The performance of the photocatalyst in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, iso-propanol, oxalate, and bicarbonate anions was evaluated. The results confirmed the critical role of the photoinduced holes in the photodegradation mechanism. The best pathway to describe the photodegradation mechanism was the direct Z-scheme mechanism.
