Abstract

A system constructed to analyze final-state particles from e (as Fe/sup 59 /sup 450 deg C in a / - p interactions at the Bevatron is described. The momentum of the incident e (as Fe/sup 59 meson is determined by a spectrometer consisting of two small four-gap spark chambers followed by a deflecting magnet and another set of two spark chambers. The e (as Fe/sup 59 mesons then interact in a liquid-hydrogen target. Two ten-gap spark chambers before and after the target are used to measure the incident and final-state particles. The particles then enter a large deflecting magnet and are finally detected in four large spark chambers extending 6 ft behind the deflecting magnet. (A.G.W.)
