Abstract
The two-dimensional demonstration model consists of a single, small bar magnet in a static magnetic field with an applied oscillating magnetic field at right angles to the static field. It can be used to display the general principles of magnetic resonance such as the dependence of resonant frequency upon the static field, a zero field resonance, and the dependence of linewidth and resonant frequency upon relaxation processes. The model may also be used in the college laboratory for very simple and instructive experiments, and for the actual measurement of magnetic fields with an accuracy of a few percent, using no additional equipment otner than an audio oscillator.
