Abstract

Magnetic elastomers are obtained using polydimethylsiloxane polymer filled with barium hexaferrite microparticles that have a homogeneous and porous microstructure. The microstructure and magnetic and mechanical properties of the synthesized samples are studied. The way of leaching the filler yields magnetic elastomers with a porosity of ~58%. It is shown that the porous microstructure reduces the Young’s modulus of the samples from 0.63 MPa (homogeneous) to 27 kPa (porous) and does not appreciably alter their magnetic properties.
