Abstract
A magnetic beacon navigation and positioning technology which can work without GPS is investigated in this paper. We use the magnetic coil as a beacon in the low frequency magnetic field and the navigation. In addition, positioning methods based on extended Kalman filter (EKF) and data fusion algorithm are applied to improve the accuracy of the system. The method of navigation and positioning of this magnetic beacon is explained by simulation, indicating that the proposed magnetic beacon navigation and positioning algorithm is attractive for many environments where GPS signals are restricted, such as indoor robot navigation, underground physical exploration and so on.
