Abstract

Several individuals from a series of Short-tailed Shrews, Blarina brevicauda, collected in Champaign County, Illinois during the fall of 1950, 1951, 1952, were found to harbor a new species of lungworm (NEMATODA: METASTRONGYLIDAE). The purpose of this paper is to present a brief description of the new species and to record certain limited observations on the histopathology of the infections and the life cycle of the parasite. The encouragement and advice of Dr. Lyell J. Thomas are gratefully acknowledged.
