Abstract

In this study, an LTE-R wireless communication interface installed at the test railway line for field-testing of onboard oriented train control system was tested. This on-board oriented train control system was developed to improve operational efficiency through minimization of wayside structures. Test procedures and results are described here. Use of LTE-R wireless communication network installed at the field test railway line requires direct connection with on-board LTE devices and modification of train wiring and interfaces. Therefore, it was difficult to make such modification only for the purpose of testing on-board oriented train control system. Also, LTE-R wireless communication network of the test railway line does not support multi-cast communication used by on-board oriented train control system. Accordingly, a separate interface module should be developed and tested. To this end, such interface configuration and function for connection with LTE-R wireless communication network are defined in this study, and modules and UI screens are described together with interface test results.
