Abstract

A rectangular microstrip patch array antenna (RMPAA) is proposed for WiMAX/5G communication. The design offers a two element patch array antenna with star-shaped slots. The volume of the array antenna is $30\times 32\times 0.79~\mathrm{mm}^{3}$ printed on Rogers RT 5880 (2.2, 0.0009). The RMPAA with star-shaped slots depicts 1.3423 GHz bandwidth where frequency ranges from 3.2018 GHz to 4.5441 GHz. The array antenna resonates at the point of 3.688 GHz. The maximum gain and directivity of the array antenna is 3.71 dB and 3.96 dBi respectively with a quality reflection coefficient of −37.998dB. The efficient antenna (efficiency = 97%) shows a good VSWR of 1.0255 at the centre operating frequency with a stable radiation pattern. For the standard performance, the antenna is worthy for WiMAX (3. 4-3.6 GHz) and 5G NR band N77 (3.3-4.2 GHz) application.
