Abstract

This paper presents a low-profile dual-polarized wideband antenna with artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) reflector. The proposed antenna is mainly composed of two orthogonal bowtie dipoles, a microstrip ring and an AMC reflector. With the ring around the upper bowtie dipole, the antenna can realize a wide impedance bandwidth (53% for VSWR less than 1.5 from 1.65 to 2.85 GHz) for both ports. Because of the AMC reflector, the proposed antenna achieves a low profile at about $0.12 \lambda_{\text{L}} (>\lambda_{\text{L}}$ refers to the vacuum wavelength at 1.65 GHz). The antenna also achieves a stable gain at about 7.5 dBi, a cross-polarization of 28 dB, an port isolation of 22 dB in the whole band. The measured results agree well with the simulated results.
