Abstract

In this paper, a converter topology is presented to obtain a three phase supply from a single phase supply. It basically consists of a rectifier and an inverter circuit. The front end rectifier is to providf a DC link voltage through split capacitor. The four leg inverter converts this Dc link voltage into 3 phase supply. The two leg of the inverter providfs the two phases and third phase is taken from the midpoint of the split capacitor. Phase converters providf: (1) Balanced 3-phase currents to 3-phase Induction motor from single phase line. (2) It can be used where three phase power is eventually available; three phase induction motors can be immediately used from single phase line at about better efficiency than that of single phase motors.
