Abstract

Autonomous vehicle is a self-driving vehicle and does not require any operator to navigate and accomplish its task. The purpose of this paper is to develop such a vehicle which can not only detect an object in front of it but also be able to avoid it. So, it is equipped with ultrasonic sensor to detect the objects in its path and it also has a Global Positioning System (GPS) module and compass to determine its current position and navigate it to a designated location. After developing the proposed vehicle system, it has been examined that it is able to reach a predefined location while avoiding obstacle in its path. The autonomous vehicle made for the purpose of this study was also made with cheaper sensors, making it more viable for the general consumers. This autonomous vehicle system is expected to bring a degree of autonomy in the currently deployed user controlled vehicles for developing countries. It will also have many practical implementations in daily and military life.
