Abstract

The application of CAD, CAE and CAM also puts new demands on inspection and testing in computer integrated production processes. A sophisticated measurement technique, among other things, is considered a most crucial requirement for the production of industrial goods of a controlled and optimized quality. The past twenty years have seen a continued increase in importance of computer aided measurement techniques as a means to control industrial production. At the same time the basic definitions governing design, production end quality control of worikpicess have undergone considerable advance with the goal of international harmonisation and standardization. Focal points of interest included the definitions of nominal, real and substitute geometrical features. Plane, sphere and cylinder are examples where the method’s divergence depending of the point of view - this can be design, production or measurement - still causes trouble in industry.
