Abstract

In order to solve energy efficiency (EE) optimization in the massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) downlink system, this paper constructs a spatially correlated channel model and derives the expression of spectral efficiency (SE) in a multi-cell multi-user MIMO system. Then, put forward the energy efficiency optimization objective by adopting a realistic power consumption as the denominator, which entails unaffordable complexity to solve. Thus, we propose a low complexity power allocation algorithm to obtain a sub-optimal solution. The simulation results verify that the proposed power allocation approximates the water-filling algorithm’s performance for EE and SE with far lower complexity.
