Abstract

Orthogonal Time Frequency Space, also known as OTFS, has been proved to significantly outperform Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, also known as OFDM, in various high-mobility scenarios. In this work, a low complexity channel estimation scheme is proposed with pilot embedded in Delay-Doppler domain. At the same time, other interfering factors such as synchronization errors are taken into account since it is inevitable to encounter such errors in practical operation. Firstly, with the introduction of these errors, the whole OTFS system is analyzed in the time-varying multipath channel (TVMC) through intensive mathematical deduction. Based on the previous deduction, a low complexity channel estimation scheme can be obtained to accommodate for the co-effects of TVMC as well as the errors that occur during the procedure of synchronization. Simulation results suggest that our channel estimation scheme can achieve the purpose of conquering such co-effects with low pilot overhead.
