Abstract

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. sought to inspire humanity toward a love ethic. To commemorate his legacy, this speech, to later be published, speaks to what it means to love the least of these. It underscores the need for a foundation for love that more than exists and is transformative -- a love based on love of the minority (especially self love), a love of the majority through understanding, a love of country through honest critique, and drawing from a source of love (a higher power). In the end, love must not waver or be clouded by fear. Only then can it be triumphant.
