Abstract

The US Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has developed a roadmap for the US semiconductor industry that illustrates needs and directions until the year 2010 for design, process development, CAE, test etc. In this roadmap a strong need for EDA standards was emphasized. In response, a special group was put together in early 1995 by three organizations: CFI (the CAD Framework Initiative), SEMATECH and EDAC (Electronic Design Automation Companies). This group's task is to define a roadmap for EDA standards, indicating which standards need special emphasis and priority. This work is divided into 3 areas, each represented by a separate workgroup: CAD Systems Interoperability and Integration (CSII); Design and Data Management(DDM); and Technology and Library Models(TLM). The paper looks at work on standards in analog and mixed signal modelling, and AHDLs. (8 pages)
