Abstract

You arrive at work one day, look at the surgery schedule, and realize you are to scrub for a procedure that requires a bone graft. In the OR, the surgeon cuts a piece out of the patient's diseased fibula and replaces it with bone chips from a small jar. You wonder where the bone chips came from and what procedures were done before that bone arrived in the OR. Just exactly how does the “other side” work?
