Abstract

Meena Alexander was born in India and raised there and in North Africa. She currently lives in New York City, where she is Professor of English & Creative Writing at Hunter College and at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. She served as a juror for the 1998 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, nominating Adrienne Rich for the award. Her recent books include the anthology Indian Love Poems (Knopf, 2005) and Fault Lines: A Memoir (Feminist Press, 2004). August 14, 2004 is also forthcoming in the Harvard Review (Spring 2005).
