Abstract

A number of years ago, a member of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) Administrative Committee approached me to ask that I consider devoting a focus issue of IEEE Microwave Magazine</i> to spotlight research performed by women in the microwave engineering field. I thought this was an excellent idea, leading to numerous discussions that I am pleased to say have turned into a successful series of focus issues with technical features describing novel microwave engineering research directed and performed by women microwave engineers throughout the world. This effort was led by Jasmin Grosinger, Wenquan Che, and Sherry Hess from the Women in Microwaves (WiM) MTT-S subcommittee and has led to a collection of six technical features that we will be publishing in the coming months. I would like to thank the organizers for their efforts in organizing and contributing to this set of focus issues. This month’s issue features three of these technical features; an excellent place to start your reading would be the “From the Guest Editors’ Desk,” where the organizers provide background on the articles.
