Abstract
Frequency distributions are familiar to almost all sports fans. Most common are one-way distributions in which the frequency of occurrence for each of the related categories is given. Table 1 gives an example of such a distribution. Several basic concepts in statistics and probability can be illustrated here. For example, the mean, median, mode, range, standard deviation, and other sample statistics can be calculated, as well as the a posteriori probability that a certain score occurs (table 2).
