A Long-term Model for the Curriculum of Training for an Electric-Power Specialist

Abstract

Determination of the profile or, as we say, the model of a specialist in electric power for the year 2000 must be based on an analysis of the present state of electrical energy and ascertainment of the possible ways and directions in which it will be developed in the USSR and in the world in general. Since forecasts of energy consumption in the year 2000 must of necessity be multivariant and probabilistic in nature, any model that may be created for specialists can itself be only hypothetical, probabilistic, and multivariant. Nonetheless, we can lay down certain general principles and requirements for the model of training a future specialist. The main principle is that h is training should be such that no matter what probabilistic variant of the development of electrical energy is used, the individual in question will be a specialist who is prepared t o take on every-thing new that comes his way and to master newly created technology with a minimum expenditure of time and effort.
