Abstract

Costantini, P. and C. Manni, A local scheme for bivariate co-monotone interpolation. Computer Aided Geometric Design 8 (1991) 371–391. We present a method for the construction of differentiable surfaces which interpolate arbitrary sets of data over rectangular grids. Such surfaces are obtained using a blending function scheme, which is, in turn, based on one dimensional, variable degree Bézier operators. The resulting interpolants are co-monotone or, in other words, have the same shape (increasing/decreasing) in the same regions of the data, and can be constructed using a local algorithm.
