Abstract
A two-year project on shipboard noise control research started in the Ship Laboratory of the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) 1983 after the Finnish Work Environment Fund made a grant for that purpose. One of the objectives of this project was to make a literature survey concerning propeller as a noise source and prediction methods for structure-borne noise in ships. The final aim of the project is to develope a computer program based on the Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) for the calculation of noise levels in ships. Some results of this research will be discussed in this paper.
